Overview
Ratzeburger Ruderclub (RRC) was founded on 20 March 1953 by 21 Ratzeburg residents and rows on the Küchensee in Ratzeburg. For a relatively young club its record is remarkable: five Olympic titles and 30 world championships, including the eights gold at Rome in 1960 and the first all-Ratzeburg world-champion crew in 1962; training methods developed at the club shaped rowing worldwide. Since 1957 RRC has run the Ratzeburg International Rowing Regatta on the 2,000 m course from Farchau to the boathouse. Today children (U15), juniors (U17–U23) and adults train in performance and recreational rowing.
