Overview
Potsdamer Yacht Club (PYC) was founded in Potsdam on 10 April 1891 by nine sailors as the 'Seglerverein der Unterhavel', has been called Potsdamer Yacht Club since 1900 and has had its grounds on the Großer Wannsee in Berlin since 1907. With about 1,000 members it is one of Germany's largest sailing clubs; its youth section of some 150 trains twice a week in Optimists, ILCAs and 420s. The club races in the German Sailing League, has had close ties to the sail training ship 'Gorch Fock' since 1966 and, as a 'Gelbe Welle' member, welcomes visiting boats without booking.
