Overview
Mannheimer Ruder-Verein Amicitia was founded in 1876; its boathouse stands on the Hans-Reschke-Ufer where the Neckar and the Neckar canal meet, level with Mannheim's TV tower. Members row mainly on the Alt-Neckar, which is closed to shipping – ideal water for training and beginners. The boathouse has a covered rowing tank and a fitness and ergometer room. From Easter to November the club runs beginners' courses for adults as well as rowing for children and juniors; its long racing tradition includes the German eights title in 1928.
