Overview
Lübecker Yacht-Club (LYC) was founded on 30 August 1898 to run Travemünde Week – the regatta dates back to 1889, and a subsidiary of the club still organises it in the last full week of July on nine courses in Lübeck Bay. The club has more than 800 members and three bases: the clubhouse on the Wakenitz in Lübeck with 60 berths, the Leuchtenfeld clubhouse in Travemünde opposite the four-masted barque Passat with about 180 berths on the Trave promenade and in the Passathafen, and the Mövenstein catamaran and dinghy station with room for about 300 boats. Juniors sail Optimists, O'pen Skiffs, RS Fevas, 29ers and catamarans.
