Overview
Chiemsee-Yacht-Club (CYC) was founded in Prien on 24 March 1913 and, with about 900 members including some 200 young sailors up to 26, is one of the oldest and largest sailing clubs in Bavaria. Its 28,000 m² grounds on the west shore of the Chiemsee have pontoons and berths, a boatyard, a large winter-storage hall and a workshop hall for members, and the office is staffed all year. The club hosts Bavarian and German championships – in 2026 the 20 m² dinghy-cruiser German Open and the 49er nationals – and is one of the seven clubs behind the Chiemsee championship series with about 200 boats. Juniors train from beginners up to weekly Optimist A racing practice.
