Overview
Blankeneser Segel-Club (BSC) was founded in 1898 and was the first sailing club based right on the Elbe; today it has more than 950 members. The club has a floating clubhouse pontoon with harbour and foreshore at the Blankenese dinghy harbour and the historic boathouse on the Strandweg; members sail on the Elbe and the Mühlenberger Loch – with tide, current and shifty winds. The youth section of about 160 sails Optimists, Pirates and ILCAs, and club teams race J/70s and J/24s up to the German Sailing League. BSC regattas include the Senatspreis der Elbe, the Pirate championship and the Störtebeker Opti Cup off Heligoland.
