Overview
Bayerischer Yacht-Club (BYC) is the oldest sailing club in Bavaria: founded in 1888 as Segler-Verein Würmsee, it has carried its present name since 1909 and is based in Starnberg-Percha at the north end of Lake Starnberg. The club runs a busy racing season on the lake for Dragons, J/70s, Melges 24s, H-Boats and ILCAs, and hosted the 2026 International German Dragon Championship. Juniors start in the Optimist – from taster sessions and the regional Opti league to A-fleet racing – and move on to the 420, 29er or WASZP; members can charter club-owned J/70s and Laser Bahias.
