Overview
Rowing Club Bern has rowed since 1919, and its statutes commit it to recreational as well as competitive rowing. Its boathouse, rebuilt on the old site in 2012 to the Minergie-P energy standard, has 70 % more boat storage. The racing squad for 10- to 20-year-olds competes at Swiss and international championships – a club rower won Olympic silver in the double sculls at Seoul in 1988. There are beginner courses for adults and young people and a winter safety course, university rowing for Bern students through the university sports programme, and the club helps run the Bern Boat Race.
