For visiting boats
Bay of Islands Marina at Opua is New Zealand's main port of entry for cruising yachts and the base for exploring the 144 islands of the Bay of Islands. It has 420 berths for local boats, international cruisers and superyachts, with a marked quarantine area inside the outer breakwater where Customs and MPI officers on site clear arriving boats. Call the marina on VHF 73. Visitors get 24/7 access to the lounge, hot showers, a commercial laundry and Wi-Fi, with free pump-out, a 24-hour fuel dock and a café; the boatyard has a 50-tonne travel lift, a 60-tonne haul-out trailer, 74 hardstand spaces and more than 35 marine trades. The whole bay is a no-discharge area, so a holding tank is required.
