For visiting boats
Crosshaven Boatyard was founded in 1961 to build fishing boats and later built famous yachts such as Gypsy Moth V and the Saint Brendan; in 1979 it installed what it describes as the first commercial marina with a travel hoist in Ireland. Today the yard, on the Owenabue estuary at the east end of Crosshaven in Cork Harbour, concentrates on repair, care and maintenance of pleasure and commercial boats, with a 100-berth marina, a 40-tonne hoist, shipwrights, GRP and engineering work, rigging, spray painting, a small chandlery and covered and outdoor winter storage. It is a short walk from the Royal Cork Yacht Club.
