For visiting boats
Sovereign Harbour at Eastbourne is a large locked marina complex: four inner harbours with more than 800 berths, entered through locks that work at all states of the tide, between Beachy Head and Hastings. The Martello tower on Langney Point with its light marks the entrance, and the buoyed approach channel runs in from a safe-water mark. Ashore there are a 24/7 self-service fuel pontoon, two 24-hour laundries, shower blocks, a boatyard with a 60-tonne travel hoist and 1.5-tonne crane, a yacht club, and the restaurants and bars of The Waterfront.
- Guest berths
- Call Sovereign Harbour on VHF 17 at the safe-water mark (50°47.37'N 000°20.81'E) and monitor it for lock broadcasts; the locks work at all states of the tide. Follow the buoyed channel (dredged to 2.4 m below CD) keeping the green buoys over a WW1 wreck to starboard, 5-knot limit inside. From the east watch the tide rips over the Royal Sovereign Shoal and Horse of Willingdon. Self-service fuel pontoon by reception, open 24/7.
