For visiting boats

East Cowes Marina lies on the east bank of the River Medina, about 500 m upstream of the Cowes chain ferry, with berths for more than 300 yachts and motorboats up to 30 m length and 3 m draught, including dedicated visitor berths. The reception building has showers, a family room, a laundry and waste and oil disposal, and The Lifeboat bar and restaurant overlooks the river. There is no boatyard on site – lifts on the island are at nearby yards. Mind the tide: the Medina stream runs hard through the pontoons on the late ebb, so time arrival round high water.

Guest berths
Enter Cowes by the main fairway or the small-craft Eastern Channel, then call on VHF 80 (or 01983 293983) once in the Medina for a berth; the marina is on the east bank about 500 m south of the chain ferry. Strong stream through the berths: a 2–3 hour stand at high water and the whole ebb in the last 3 hours before low water – best to arrive from 30–60 min before to 2½ h after HW. Visitor rates differ (book ahead, non-refundable) for the Isle of Wight Festival, Round the Island Race weekend and Cowes Week.
