For visiting boats

Brighton Marina is a breakwater harbour cut into the chalk coast half a mile east of Brighton, with direct open-sea access and more than 1,300 berths – a natural stop between Dover and the Solent and a jumping-off point for France. Visitors berth in the outer harbour on pontoons 10 and 11; the Inner Harbour behind a lock takes boats drawing up to 3 m. The site has a self-service fuel pontoon, pump-out, 24-hour laundries in the jetty bathroom blocks, a 60-tonne boat hoist with mast crane, a chandlery and marine trades, and Brighton city centre is a short bus ride away. Watch for sand building up at the entrance after southerly storms.

Guest berths
Call Brighton Marina on VHF 80 or 37 (or 01273 819919) for a berth, or go to visitor pontoons 10 and 11 to port inside the inner entrance. Give the western breakwater end a wide berth; in heavy weather many approach from the south. Entrance channel dredged to 1.7 m below CD but sand shoals after storms. 5-knot limit. The Inner Harbour (draught up to 3 m) is reached by lock, on demand 07:00–19:00. Self-service fuel 08:00–18:00 in summer, daylight in winter.
