Overview
Newport Harbor Yacht Club, established in 1916, sits on the bay side of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, one of the largest recreational boating harbors in the world with more than 9,000 boats. It is best known for its stadium-style team racing right off the club — the Baldwin Cup for invited yacht-club teams from around the world and the Palmer Trophy — and for offshore racing, including the biennial Newport-to-Cabo race and the Channel Islands 500. Its long-running 'Non-Calm' junior program trains members' children from Sabots up to a C420 race team and hosts the Sabot Nationals in 2027. The club has no visitor slips, but reciprocal yachts can book one of several guest moorings with shore-boat service through the dockmaster, on VHF 71.
