Overview

The New York Yacht Club was founded in 1844 aboard a yacht anchored off the Battery and is the club that held the America's Cup from 1851 until 1983. It has two clubhouses: the landmark Model Room building on West 44th Street in Manhattan and Harbour Court on Brenton Cove in Newport, Rhode Island, where all of its racing is run. The club organizes North America's oldest annual regatta, the biennial Race Week at Newport and the Rolex NYYC Invitational Cup for Corinthian yacht-club teams in its fleet of IC37s, and keeps a Sonar fleet for team racing.
