Overview
Tribesmen Rowing Club was formed in 1976 and rows on the River Corrib in the heart of Galway. Its crest joins the Claddagh ring with crossed oars, and its founders set out to bring top-class rowing back to Galway; the club went on to win national titles, raced the Thames Cup at Henley in 1980 and 1985, and for decades ran the 'Tribes Head', one of Ireland's largest head-of-the-river races. Today it caters for rowers of all abilities, with recreational and Masters rowing, independent sculling and adult learn-to-row programmes.
