Overview
Malahide Yacht Club was founded in 1958 to promote sailing on the Broadmeadow estuary north of Dublin and works from two clubhouses: one on St James's Terrace in the village, looking over the lower estuary to Lambay Island, where the cruiser fleet races, and one at the Broadmeadows on the upper estuary, with changing rooms and showers for dinghy sailors. Dinghies – Optimists, Lasers, Topaz, Mirrors and 420s – race most Saturdays on the Broadmeadows, and the club runs Irish Sailing junior summer courses (levels 1–4) plus adult and powerboat courses, with club boats to rent. Club sailors have won an Olympic silver medal (1980) and many national titles, and the club was named Irish Sailing Club of the Year 2026.
