Overview
Reading Canoe Club has paddled from The Warren in Caversham, on the north bank of the Thames, for more than 50 years. Its purpose-built clubhouse has boat storage, a club room over the river, changing rooms and a weights room. Members race in marathon and sprint and take on the 126-mile Devizes to Westminster race, and the club runs regular training for juniors and adults from beginners to Great Britain level. It organises its own races: the winter Thameside 1 (Aldermaston to Reading) and Thameside 2 (Reading to Marlow), the Reading Hasler in May and a K4 race in September. It was named Berkshire Sports Club of the Year in 2024.
