Overview

Agecroft Rowing Club was formed in 1861 from a merger of rowing clubs on the River Irwell, which makes it one of the oldest open-membership rowing clubs in the world. Since 2004 it has had a purpose-built boathouse beside the Salford Watersports Centre at Salford Quays, opposite Old Trafford. Crews train on a 5 km stretch of the Irwell and the Quays that has almost no other river traffic. The fleet includes modern eights and fours, and the club has a gym, a learn-to-row programme, junior and masters squads, and indoor Go Row classes. It is also home to Salford University Boat Club and runs the Agecroft Head every October.
