Overview
Aviron Bayonnais was born on 14 September 1904 when a group of rowers broke away from the Société Nautique de Bayonne to found a new club on the Nive and the Adour. Since grown into a large multi-sport club — from rugby and Basque pelota to swimming and surfing — it has kept rowing as its founding section; its coastal-rowing crews made their mark in the early years, winning the King's Cup at San Sebastián. The rowing section trains all year; the club also has an outrigger (pirogue) section.
