Overview
Horsens Sejlklub is based in the marina at the head of Horsens Fjord and is one of Denmark's oldest sailing clubs – founded as Horsens Sejladsforening in 1879, the town's first sports club and the sixth sailing club in the country. In 1914 it set up the first youth section in Denmark, a tradition that has since produced Olympic medals in the Soling and the Laser Radial. The youth section is a Dansk Sejlunion-approved youth-friendly club and trains in club dinghies and J/70s, and the sailing and racing school takes adults from their first sail through to racing on their own. Through the summer there is evening racing twice a week – women's racing on a windward-leeward course and pursuit races on the club's marks in the fjord, and the club runs events such as Endelave Rundt, Trekost2Star and the KDY15 junior regatta.
