Overview
Middle Harbour Yacht Club sits on the beach at The Spit in Mosman, about seven kilometres north of the Sydney CBD, with its own 103-berth marina just inside the Spit Bridge. It grew out of the Middle Harbour Cruising Yacht Association formed in 1939 and today has more than 900 members. The club runs the Sydney Harbour Regatta, one of Australia's biggest keelboat regattas with around 180 boats over several course areas, and the Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship off the Heads, a key warm-up for the Sydney Hobart. Through the year there is keelboat racing (spinnaker and non-spinnaker), twilight series in daylight saving, a cruising division, centreboard and youth sailing, and Sailability; the club is an Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre and the Australian Sailing Team trains from its waterfront.
