Overview

The Union-Yacht-Club Traunsee was founded on 15 August 1888 as a branch of the Union Yacht Club (founded 1886) and has been independent since 1950; its clubhouse on the Esplanade in Gmunden has stood by the Orth bay of the Traunsee since 1914. With its thermal winds the lake is one of Austria's most demanding sailing areas. The club runs traditional trophy races such as the Max-Schmid-Pokal in the Traunsee Cup, the Ebensee regatta and the club handicap, offers youth training and belongs to the Austrian and Upper Austrian sailing federations. Guests and competitors find the office, showers and toilets in the clubhouse.
