Overview
Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club began in 1873 as Wexford Boat Club, a rowing club, which makes it the longest-running sports club in Wexford town; tennis arrived in 1883, sailing in the 1920s, and the present name dates from 1994. The clubhouse on Redmond Road overlooks the Slaney estuary and Wexford Harbour, with a members' bar, changing rooms and showers. On the water side the club offers secure boat storage, pontoon access and a lifting crane for sailing, powerboating and kayaking, and its junior programme runs Irish Sailing courses from Cara na Mara up to instructor level each summer, with weekly 'Turn Up & Sail' sessions.
