Overview
Yacht Club Costa Smeralda was founded in 1967 at Porto Cervo on the north-east coast of Sardinia and has been affiliated to the Italian Sailing Federation since 1968. It is one of the big names of international yachting: the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, the Rolex Swan Cup, the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and world championships such as the TP52 Worlds are sailed here. The club launched Azzurra's 1983 America's Cup challenge and the Smeralda 888 one-design class. Its Young Azzurra programme backs young sailors in Olympic and foiling classes.
